After appearing on Queer as Folk and the Wicker Park soundtrack, I'd consider this Broken Social Scene's "hit". This is a minimalist version, with just Feist from Broken Social Scene at a piano. I thought of this song because I saw Feist tuesday night and she was amazing.

My friend Dan pointed me to this french rap group called La Caution earlier this week. While the music was great, the french rapping really annoyed me. Either because I couldn't understand it, or perhaps because the french inflection seems to ruin the flow. This 2002 EP that La Caution did with electronic artist Chateau Flight features instrumental versions of all the tracks. I think I find the music on this EP much more enjoyable than the lyrics.

I'm not sure what it is about Ryan Adams, I've never really been able to get into his music. Maybe it's that every time I listen to his music he's not identifiable to me, he always sounds like someone else. Figures that his latest release, which has gotten fairly poor reviews from critics, would finally produce a song that I found interesting. Theres something pure and sweet about this song, or maybe it's just that it reminds me of some modern country song that I can't quite place.

One of the things I did over christmas break is pick up Burnout: Revenge for the Playstation 2. After playing the game for 8 hours a day for the next 10 days, I can't tell if it's the fast gameplay or this song that keeps bringing me back. While The Bravery may not be my favorite, this Superdiscount remix by Etienne De Crecy really does it for me.

I kinda feel like rap has been in a slump lately. Sort of like me, I suppose. The one exception to this is Lyrics Born. The remix album he released in 2005 is some of the best rap i've ever come across. here's a speedy upbeat hip hop song from it to start out a new season of songs of the day.
